URBAN VOID

The theme of the void and the existing enclosure of "Ex Frigorifero Militare" becomes the starting point for the project. The inversion of the void with the insertion of a fullness as a memory-trace is a theme that historically characterises the evolution of urban voids in Italian historical centres. This inversion between fullness and emptiness, between acceptance and negation of the historic site, becomes the incipit of the project.

Thus the former refrigerator is interpreted as an enclosure, a "template" on which to draw and cast the new building.

The old thus becomes part of the new, and remains imprinted and engraved in it forever.
